Susan and I started with the idea of committing to make our home and lives’ a little greener. After a lot of research, we began looking for more Earth-friendly products and the companies that manufacture them, then researching the companies. We soon realized that while many are available, it could take 30, 40 even 50 miles of driving and many stops to find the products we needed, because you can’t just buy them at the local grocery store. So we decided to open the Green Living Center… being exactly what it says, a one stop green shop for many of the things that will help you green up your life and home.

We began with the guidelines that everything we sell is:

• Made with or from plant and/or renewable and sustainable sources.
• That they are safe for the mind, body and planet.
• That they are safe to go down the drain - biodegradable and recyclable.
• And finally a commitment to buy locally or as close to our store as possible.

For the house, garden and garage:
We offer full lines of home cleaning products - all surface cleaners, degreasers, glass cleaners, S/S cleaner, dish soaps, laundry soaps (liquid and powder) and automatic dish washer gels & detergents. We also have pet care and leather cleaning products.

For the bath and body:
We offer several lines of shampoo, conditioners, deodorant, toothpaste, both with and w/o fluoride, moisturizing and body lotions, and chlorine free feminine care products made with organic cotton. Most products come in fragrance free formulas. We also offer several types of paper towels and toilet paper, made from 100% recycled paper, in both white and natural.

Apparel:
From undergarments, to leggings, skirts, blouses, hoodies, pants, several styles of tees and tops, lush towels and bath robes. All items are made from Bamboo, Organic Cotton, Hemp or blends of these and are available in men and women styles. All cloths, if not hand made in small lots are made by fair-trade companies or those subscribing to fair-trade values.

Our Commitment:
If we don’t have something you want, let us know. We’ll do the research and if they make it in an earth-friendly form, we’ll get for you. Check back often as we enlarge this site and launch our web-base shopping for your convenience. A couple of clicks will conserve a couple of gallons of gas.

The Kitchen Composter

• Accepts 5 lbs of organic waste per day.
• Raw or cooked veggies, meats, coffee grounds.
• Finished black healthy compost every 2 weeks.

We strongly believe in localization and are founding members of the Humboldt Business Alliance, an alliance of businesses that subscribe to and support localization.

We offer refrigerated foods and beverages including Mazzotti’s herb butter, Rita’s Salsa, Healing Springs Kombacha, Purple (the newest antioxidant beverage), a full selection of Signature Coffee’s, sauces and dressings from some of the best Humboldt County restaurants and Sjaaks organic chocolates.
